Every time a heavy duty storm rolls through, and we hear howling winds pounding, literally, on our bedroom windows, our hairs stand on end and we are poised for the spectacular and the worst at the same time - spectacular because Texas can deliver some awesome thunder storms, and worst because of the damage that can follow.
As for the spectacular, you would not believe the force and power of Texas thunder and lightning. It's quite exhilarating! And it's sure to wake you up in the night. The booming thunder shakes the house and the flashes of lightning are like big blasts of daylight through your window. Fascinating!
Though tornadoes have not found their way into our quiet little neighborhood, we are still nervous. Hubby has a friend in medical school whose home sustained some damage from a little swirling devil that struck in the night. Thankfully it was just a little swirling cloud and only a little damage. He and his wife live just a little east of us. (I get chills just thinking about it.) We've got our tornado plan (though what good will it do, we really don't have a secure shelter for retreat), and we've got each other, so for now we're feeling cautiously optimistic about future storms.
On a lighter note, summer is coming (blessing)! We got vacations planned with our families, whom we love and miss (blessing, blessing). We've got our home and each other (blessing, blessing). And, my goodness, our second anniversary (marriage is a great blessing)! We have so much more we are thankful for, but the list is extremely long. We'll end it here for this post.
